Day 1: Saint John Paul II
Saint John Paul II called his own 33 Day Consecration to Mary the “major turning point” of his life. His papal motto was “Totus Tuus” or “Totally Yours,” referring to being Totally for Mary.
When John Paul II was younger, he worried that devotion to Mary might draw him away from Christ. It was his reading of Saint Louis de Montfort and Montfort’s book True Devotion to Mary and his 33 Day Consecration that showed John Paul that devotion to Mary is always an expression of love for Christ her Son. We love Mary because of Christ—not instead of Christ.
Day 5: Saint Maximilian Kolbe
“Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.” –Saint Maximilian Kolbe
Day 6: Blessed Bartolo Longo
Bartolo Longo was an ordained priest of Satan. He literally served Satan and even planned a death plot against the Pope. He converted to Christ, he said, through the power of Mary. For the rest of his life, he became the Apostle of the Rosary. His personal experience with Satan himself, revealed that the Rosary is the most powerful weapon against the demons.
Since the days of Saint Dominic, the Rosary has been Mary’s special gift to the Church through the Dominican Order of Preachers. Why is the Rosary so powerful? Mary is the New Eve who has perfect enmity against Satan.
Lucifer once had the highest throne in Heaven. Now Mary is seated enthroned as the highest creature under God. Consequently, Lucifer hates Mary with an infernal fury. God has chosen to humiliate him, not through direct divine power, but through the delicate prayers of the Virgin. Satan tried ruin humanity through a woman (Eve) and now he is constantly crushed by a woman (Mary).
