God loves us just as we are, but…

God wasn’t content with liberating Israel from mere physical slavery in Egypt. Instead of a cosmetic surgery that only deals with the externals, the Father saw the need for radical surgery, without which Israel would have remained forever enslaved—internally—to the idols of Egypt. His goal was not simply to bring them into the Promised Land but to make them reliant on him alone. That’s a lesson we’re always learning, that God loves us just as we are, but he loves us too much to leave us that way.
